Kennedy is an Assistant Lecturer at Egerton University and an Associate Researcher with the University of Nairobi’s African Women’s Studies Centre. He lectures on Gender and the Law, and Human Rights and Ethics at the Bachelors level, as well as Gender, Communication, Law and Human Rights at the Diploma level at Egerton University. Kennedy also carries out policy and evidence-based research at both universities. Kennedy is also the Director of the Governor’s Press Service in Kiambu County, Kenya.

Kennedy is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Nairobi researching the opportunities and challenges for women in the legislative process in the context of devolution. He is largely utilizing a mixed-method approach towards achieving the objectives of his study. His Masters is in Socio-Legal Studies (Women’s Law) from the University of Zimbabwe and his undergraduate degree is in Political Science and Communication from the University of Nairobi. Kennedy is also pursuing a second Masters in International Relations at the University of Nairobi
