Raquel Guimaraes BITSS CatalystEconomics

Dr. Guimaraes is currently an Assistant Professor of Economics and Demography in the Department of Economics at Federal University of Paraná (Brazil). She is a Guest Researcher (by courtesy) at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA, Austria) and in the Wittgenstein Center for Demography and Human Capital (WiC, Austria).

Raquel teaches courses in economic demography, development microeconomics and econometric methods for public policy evaluation. Her current research interests include population and environmental change, human capital quality projections and demography of education.

Dr. Guimaraes graduated from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 2007 with a degree in economics. She completed an MA degree in International Comparative Education at Stanford University (2011) and earned a doctorate in demography from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 2014. She has a post-doc experience as a Guest Visiting Research Scholar at IIASA, Austria.
