Shane McCarty is the Executive Director and Research Scientist at Promote Care & Prevent Harm, a non-profit working on the prevention of violence at schools across the United States. Shane completed his bachelors in Marketing, masters in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and doctorate in Developmental Psychology at Virginia Tech. His research explores the development and function of helping and aggressive behaviors among adolescent students at school.
Since the aftermath of the April 16th tragedy at Virginia Tech, Shane has been passionate about developing programs that promote actively caring and reduce violence in schools. He was a co-author of a grant project funded by the COPS Office of the Department of Justice focused on Preventing Problems by Promoting Positive Practices (P5) for School Resource Officers.
He believes collective impact should be prioritized over personal achievement. As a result, he aspires to create the most transparent research-focused, non-profit programming organization to serve youth at school.
